    Bad Historical Data

    Hello,

More often than not when I open NT8 in the morning there will be one or more days of historical data which is not correct.

For example for the ES with 2000 tick charts there will be one or more days with only about 5 bars for the whole day. I have to reload the historical data to refresh the data and that typically fixes it, sometimes the data must be reloaded several times to fix it.

Reloading the historical data is not a big deal but I often forget to do it and the result is the moving averages I use in my trading are not correct which is a problem. My point is I should not have to remember to reload every morning.

Am I doing something wrong to cause this problem with historical data? How can I fix it?

I have read on other forums that NT8 has issues with corrupted data caches. How to I write a simple bat file to clear the historical data before starting NT8? Will doing that fix the problem?

While deleting the cache every day before starting NinjaTrader will likely stop the issue, this would be treating the symptom instead of the root cause.

Are there any steps you can take which reliably reproduce the issue? Or does it simply require waiting until it occurs? When did this most recently occur?

Do you leave NinjaTrader on continuously? Or do you shut down and restart daily?

Please send me your log and trace files so that I may look into what occurred.

You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Mail to Platform Support.

Ensuring 'Log and Trace Files' is checked will include these files. This is checked by default.

Please reference the following ticket number in the body of the email: '1758732 ATTN Patrick G' and also a link to this forum post.

There is nothing I can do to reproduce it since it seems to happen randomly when I start NT8. There are strings of days where it will happen almost every day then a bunch of days when it is fine. The last time it happened was 2 days ago.

I shut down NT8 every evening and restart the next day around 9:00AM ET.

I will wait until it happens again and send you the logs as requested.

        similar problem with missing data

I'm having a similar problem. I downloaded 8.0.9.0 today but the problem was still evident. Like seahn, I had to reload the historical data to fix the issue. The problem occurs for me on some tick charts but not all. For example, a 200 or 1800 tick chart but not a 500 tick chart. Also, unchecking Break at EOD will fix the issue, but this is not an option for me because I have an indicator that requires Break at EOD to be checked.

I've included a screenshot with the problem evident after market close on 9/13

            My answers to the questions:
            1. I do not know how I can recreate but I will try to be more aware of how I can.
            2. I shut down NT and restart in the morning

I sent the log and trace files but I'm wondering if they will help since I am not seeing the problem after refreshing the historical data.

Thank you for looking into this.

seeing problem again with bad historical data

              Hi Patrick
I noticed the issue involving bad historical data again today. This time I am sending the log and trace files before refreshing the historical data. I noticed the problem after starting up NT this morning. I have also noticed a higher memory usage today than normal: ~2900 MB vs ~500 MB normally for NT8.

I sent my log and trace files again via your instructions below.
