NT8 Error: A hosted indicator tried to load additional data.

    NT8 Error:
A hosted indicator tried to load additional data. All data must first be loaded by the hosting Ninjascript in its Configure State.

I am getting the error described above, but only when I enable the strategy through the Strategy Tab. If I right click on the chart, click Strategies, select the Strategy and click Enable, it works fine without any errors.

You can reproduce the error creating a blank strategy and enabling it through the 2 methods described above.

Is there a setting that I am missing?

    Futures14,
I have gotten this error quite a few times but I have never been able to systematically reproduce it. Possibly you have provided a way for support to see it, and therefore finally fix it.

      Hello futures14,

      Thank you for your post.

This would be unexpected based on your description. We will investigate further, but please provide the what version of NinjaTrader are you using? You can check under Help -> About (Example: 8.0.4.0)

In addition, please send me your log and trace files so that I may look into what occurred.
      • You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support.

Please reference this thread in the body of the email.

I look forward to your response.

I'm getting the error as well and its affecting a number of my indicators and strategies and the list keeps growing with each passing day. It happens on startup and once I receive this error the indicator stops working. Error started happening when I upgraded to NT 8.0.4

I am gettting this error as well for no known reasons. Using NT 8.0.4.0. Did not see it with any prior version.

I had two indicators running, and today they stopped working. The very same indicators worked flawlessly until yesterday. Even when I added these indicators to an empty chart, they would not show, but I would get the famous error message "A hosted indicator tried to load additional data. All data must first be loaded by the hosting NinjaScipt in its configure state."

I have now deleted all workspaces. And voila, the indicators can be added again to virgin charts. I cannot exactly reproduce the problem, but I think it might be related to the serialization of some of the indicator parameters.

I have also had this error on random occasions (probably about 7 times now). In my case it appears to sometimes occur when first starting up NT 8.0.4.0. Sometimes I lose the indicator completely and on other times it recovers once a data feed is connected

Clearly something is wrong with release 8.0.4.0

Getting same error: "A hosted indicator tried to load additional data. All data must first be loaded by the hosting NinjaScript in its Configure state."

I rolled back to the previous version 8.0.3.1 and the problem went away, though I had to install not just NJ but delete everything related to this new load.

We obviously will need a new release with confirmation it works before going forward.

I have encountered the same problem since upgrading to Version 8.0.4.0.

I had a problem with one chart where chart scaling was not correct.
I removed indicators one by one and found that I ended up with a blank chart.
This error message appeared in the Control Center Log:
2017-02-17 20:57:20:686|3|4|A hosted indicator tried to load additional data. All data must first be loaded by the hosting NinjaScript in its configure state.
If I added back the indicator (ATR Stop), the price bars would reappear.
I was able to replicate this issue with the standard EMA indicator also.

What I discovered is that the Auto scale was found to be unticked in the Chart Data Series.
Once I had ticked the Auto Scale - the problem was resolved in my case.
I also found any of my chart templates that were created prior to v8.0.4.0 would now introduce the problem of the Auto scale being unticked when applied.

Hopefully this will resolve the issue for other users !!

Have also encountered this issue in a platform support email to the other Patrick.
My case involved the ninja supplied pivots indicator - which loaded but when i try to change the data template eg to nymex ETH the error ensued. I recall the break at eod was set to true.
It was thought that my pivots.cs did not update when i last upgraded to 8.0.4 but that was not the case. Apparently there was a fix/change to this indicator which potentially could have triggered this error.
                      Just sharing my experience

I am also experiencing this error starting today, 2/21/2017, with 6 different strategies that were running okay last Friday 2/17/2017. I did not run the strategies yesterday, Monday 2/20/2017 which was a half day session on the ES which all my strategies run. Perhaps that is the problem, something to do with following a half day session?

Hello, eventually via support a colleague of Patricks was able to reproduce the error i was having.
Perhaps Patrick/other could follow up here and share the findings - it has been forwarded to development but is probably best i let support fill in the detail here.

Patrick H. - I am also having this issue starting today.

"A hosted indicator tried to load additional data. All data must first be loaded by the hosting NinjaScipt in its configure state."

Getting this on a strategy that uses the Pivots indicator. Per your instructions, I will email log and trace files. Thank you.
