    Backtesting Strategies/Multiple Workspaces

I have created several workspaces around different sectors like Energies, Currencies, Metals, etc. With each instrument I have run backtests to try and find the right settings for a particular strategy. After settings are set on all charts in a workspace, I turn on the strategy for each. I then change workspaces and repeat.

What I noticed is that if I close a workspace to change to another workspace, the positions that opened while a strategy was enabled on an open workspace remain open, but the strategies are all disabled <gone>. I would like to mass test a strategy across multiple instruments in multiple workspaces. Do I have to go to the strategies tab and individually set them up without the benefits of having a saved chart and the correct parameters to reference? To run some 40 charts with 6+ indicators each at the same time for the purposes of testing a strategy is an awful waste of resources, and would probably crash my machine. Why does the strategy tab not save the enabled strategies separated from the charts?

    Hello Dolfan,

    Thank you for your post.

If you close a workspace it will disable the strategy (you are prompted on this when it occurs). However, you can switch workspaces without closing a workspace if needed.

Otherwise, you are correct and you would need to set the strategies on the Strategies tab of the Control Center rather than the individual charts.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Correct me if I am wrong but switching workspaces leaves all of the charts active and therefore, eating system resources. That would be 30+ charts and strategies running all at the same time. Seems...umm shall we say 'taxing'? rhetorical question... How much RAM do you think?

        That would be correct, Dolfan.

I see what you mean here. The solution is as you suspected; configure the strategies on the Strategies tab.
