I'm hopingsomeone can help me on a problem I'm having with NT recognizing oif files I'm creating for automated trading. I'm using ensign to generate the oif files. When the oif file is created it is placed in the incoming folder. There is no response from NT. Iwill then open the oif file and save it to the same place and then NT processes the order. I don't understand why NT is not recognizing the file when it is first created. Obviously, the file is valid as I can simply open it and thensave it out and then NT will process it. I was using the exact same code in NT 4 and the orders would be processed with no problems. Thanks for any advice.

Hmm .. strange. Please try this:
Since apparently moving a file works I suggest creating the file and the moving if to the NT folder.

Also: Did you consider using the DLL version? You would get around any file handling issues.

thanks for the quick reply. i am already moving the file into the incoming directory. here is what i'm doing:

1. oif file is generated and written as oif.txt into the main NT directory.

2. file is closed

3. oif.txt file is moved into incoming directory

4.no response from NT - file just sits there.

5. now i can double click on file to open it and save it out again. now NT recognizes it and processes order.

i'm not sure what dll is but i'll take a look. thanks for any guidance.

I believe this is expected behaviour. We do not trigger off of moving the file. Can you write your file directly to the incoming folder instead of moving it over?
