Hello Jonson,

MultiCharts likely uses a different approach to build P&F charts.

I think this answer might be an understatement of the problem.

The P&F charts have two settings available. They can be either calculated from the high/low range (traditional method) or from the close. The NinjaTrader P&F chart from the close looks good, where as the NinjaTrader P&F chart calculated from the highs and lows does not look correct...

I have not looked into this in a very detailed way but would appreciate, if you had it checked by your development team.

Hello Harry,

I see in your screenshot that you are using a base period of 1 minute. Can you please use a base period of 1 tick instead.

Thumbs down 1 tick interval for your PnF - bug

and again the comparison with multichart, not to say that they use other methods of software shows the correct price and you have to accept the challenge that competitors can make products better

1 tick interval for your PnF - can not advise - this is not working correctly!

Do your charts in the 2 programs start at EXACTLY the same time and date on each platform?

P&F charts, by the very nature of how they are constructed will most likely look different (even on the same platform and instrument, with identical settings), unless they start at the same exact time.

Again, the only time that this is not true is if we use a 1-tick box, as that captures every single movement.

Have checked this. NinjaTrader uses a different algorithm for high/low which is not following the definition of P&F bars which I know (see flow chart in Perry Kaufman's New Trading Systems and Methods). NinjaTrader does not even come close (box size) to the true high, if the high bar is a down close (reversal bar) or if the low bar is an upclose (reversal bar). This is not related to the starting time.

By the way I have used mínute charts with identical session start times. We just need to wait that Brett comes back with an answer.

Hello,

Thanks for your patience.

We found a bug where a high was not correctly set in some scenario's with high/.low mode on PnF charting.

We have made a change to our next release R11 to resolve this, I do not have a release date at this time for R11.
