Hello Tasuki,
Thank you for your post,
Glad to assist, please use the steps below to update NinjaTrader and reset your instruments. The recent version of NinjaTrader contains corrections to the instrument database regarding the GC that will be reset by these settings - a previous version did list 10-17 as the current contract, however, the current valid contact with the most volume is 12-17.
First, to upgrade NinjaTrader, please follow the steps below:
First get your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
Click on the link: http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
Enter your license key and press Submit
Select 'NinjaTrader 7'
Select 'Download'
Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.
Lastly, to reset your instruments, please follow the steps below:
Disconnect from your data feed: NinjaTrader Control Center> File> Disconnect> Select your data feed
Reset your Instruments: NinjaTrader Control Center> Tools> Options> Data tab> Reset Instruments>OK
Restart NinjaTrader> Connect (NinjaTrader Control Center> File> Connect> Select your connection
Please let me know if you continue to experience the same.Eric B.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Well, of course changing the contract to Dec will fix the problem. The point was that Ninjatrader screwed up the volume on the then-active contract, the 10-17 contract. We wanted NT to fix the problem on what was the current contract, not just wait until gold rolled over to the next contract. Capiche? IMHO, this sort of problem with wildly incorrect data happens WAY too often on Ninjatrader.

Of course I understand that, I had the same GC volume problem as you had - this is how I found this thread. Mine was not only showing the wrong volume but was also stuck on the 10/17 contract. Resetting the instruments allowed me to change the contract to 12/17 and reloading history sorted things out.

Yaron,
Thanks for the clarification. So, the charts were stuck on the 10-17. Wow, that's a level of weirdness I haven't seen before. Glad that re-setting the instruments did the trick. I'll remember to keep that in mind if this happens to my charts.
The larger question is, why do these weird glitches keep happening in NT software?

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
Glad to see you were able to resolve the issue. Regarding the error, the 10-17 contract was included in the database in error, which resulted in reporting you had seen. The newer version contains many critical updates to the database, so this was what was corrected when upgrading and resetting the instruments. Our apologies for any inconvenience.Eric B.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Eric,
Well *that* was a quick reply. Thanks. After that long protracted battle to fix the problem with the charts just marching off the screen in the .8.0.8.0 version, I"m sincerely hoping that the fix that Patrick and the team came up with (which I"m gratefully using now) has been incorporated into the latest version. Needless to say, I'm skittish about your "upgrades".

Thanks, Patrick G. Yipes, I counted 78 bug fixes in that update. Sounds like alot of problems with your code that are having to get fixed after the fact. Reminds me of Microsoft's strategy of releasing a new product, however buggy, and getting the public to find and report the bugs!
Makes me wonder if NT 8 was maybe released too early.
Anyway, I'm glad you got that one problem, #11983, figured out. Let's hope so...as I go to install the update!!
I guess what worries me, longterm, is that if I go ahead and plunk down a thousand bucks to buy NT 8 and some nasty bug crops up, I'm out a chunk of change. Naturally, my question would be, "when are the number of bug fixes going to start declining, so the platform just works?"

NinjaTrader 8 is stable at this time and many users are using NinjaTrader 8 without issue.
NinjaTrader 8 is a large program with many changes and new features. Many of the bugs fixed in each release are very specific scenarios that do not affect all users.
NinjaTrader 8 is free to use until you want to place live trades. The free license may be used to test and see that NinjaTrader will fit your needs.
