This did not happen before the upgrade

I can run (load) 32but fine (but that is not what i use) I use 64bit...

    Please advie on a remedy...

      Hello mjuviler and tickling,

Can you please perform the instructions listed at the link below.

If the issue remains after uninstalling any SQL Compact Edition, please download and install SQL Compact Edition 3.5 SP2.

Let me know if the issue remains.

Thanks a lot ! Issue resolved

At some point I got a message warning that on a 64 bit computer I have to install the 32 bit version of that software first or it would not work. So I installed both of them

This is windows server 2008 r2. I know it is not officially supported but maybe it is time to do so ?

        Thanks

Good to hear it solved the error.

The suggestion to officially support Windows Server 2008 is present in our tracking system for possible future enhancements. It is assigned to ID# 1241.

I want to upgrade my OS to WS2k8R2

              Hey guys,

I'm running a headless WS2k3 system with NT7...7 32 bit. I really want to get this OS updated to WS2k8R2. Any tips or gotchas?

              Thanks,
              Ray

                Hi Ray,

While this isn't an operating system which is officially supported, I've seen very few issues with it. Frankly, I'd expect that things would run fairly smoothly for you even in this environment which is, technically, outside of the scope of our support.

Well, other than the issue in this thread and that it is not officially supported, it is working fine for me. Good luck !

                    What about SP1?

Thanks for the fast replies! Are you also applying SP1? I'd not want to move forward without the latest OS fixes in place.
