    Interactive Brokers: Unable to auto start IB TraderWorkstation.

    When i login to Ninja i get this message:

    Interactive Brokers: Unable to auto start IB TraderWorkstation. Either start IB TraderWorkstation manually to login or check your IB TraderWorkstation installation and version to use Auto login per our IB Connection guide. (Logon failed)

    Can I Auto login with IB with Ninja?

    IB is logging off at the end of the day. This happens automatically is their an solution to auto restart it? or shut off this auto log off function?

    Hello MichaelAlexander,

    Thank you for your post,

    Within the NinjaTrader Control Center, go to Connections > Configure > Select your IB connection in the lower left Configured box.

    In the settings to the right, there is an Auto Login box that can be checked. Once checked, the option below "Auto login path" will allow you to select the TWS.exe via a file explorer after left-clicking. See the below link to our connection guide for the location.

    Note: If a paper trading account is in use, there is a known issue where the IB paper account advisory stops auto login from completing. In this case, auto login cannot be used.

    IB Gateway has generally been able to maintain a connection when expected disconnects occur with TWS. I suggest reaching out to IB to verify if these disconnects are expected and if they will not occur with Gateway in use.

      Hello, I logged in to my trading account IB with Ninjatrader as you describe below. However when I look to the Account section is do not see my paid account. I do see a simulation account. How can I see my trading account?

        To be able to select your live account please ensure the following.

        You must have a live license key and it must be entered under Help> License Key.

        Next, please follow these steps to enable the ability to place live trades:

        Navigate to the Control Center > Tools menu.
        Left-click on the ‘Global Simulation Mode’ option.
        You will now be able to select any live account associated with your connected datafeed in any Account drop-down box on any order entry window.

          I see it. but when I am trying to log in. IB gateway starts automatically after I started Ninja. But it does not is logging in automatically . Do you know what could be go wrong?

                To test, please try the steps below.


                1) Open Documents\NinjaTrader 8\Config.xml
                2) Search for: <AutoLogonDelaySeconds>0</AutoLogonDelaySeconds>
                3) Replace with: <AutoLogonDelaySeconds>5</AutoLogonDelaySeconds>
                4) Save Config.xml → Restart NT8
                5) Attempt IB autologon → Increase value if issue persists, try going up to 25 if needed.

                If you're still unable to connect via auto login, please write into to PlatformSupport[AT]NinjaTrader[DOT]Com along with your log and trace files and a link to this forum post.

                Please follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files to your response so I may investigate this matter further.

                * Open your NinjaTrader folder under Documents.
                * Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
                * Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
                * Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.
