Entries Per Direction not respecting Canceled Order

I have a button that triggers a strategy to place an order using EnterLongStopMarket. The order shows up on the chart. I then cancel the order and the order disappears. All good.

If I try the same steps again, the order is refused with the error reason:

Exceeded entry signals limit based on EntryHandling and EntriesPerDirection properties

I would think that the Entries Per Direction limit would only apply to open orders/positions and that canceling the order would also reset what ever counter Ninja is using to limit the 'Entries Per Direction'.

Seems like a bug to me.

Thank you for reporting the behavior.

I was able to reproduce the behavior with a test script and I have reported this to our development. Once I have a tracking ID I will post this in this thread for future reference.

Our Development has let me know this is expected behavior for both NinjaTrader 7 and NinjaTrader 8.

An order created by a strategy that is cancelled manually will not update as cancelled in the strategy.

Orders created by a strategy are not intended to be modified manually.

Instead, our development encourages the use of Atm Strategy methods to place orders outside of the script's performance if you plan to manually modify orders.

I have submitted a feature request on your behalf for NinjaTrader Development to consider adding functionality allowing strategy created orders to be cancelled manually and recognized as cancelled by the strategy.

Your request when canceling a NinjaScript Strategy generated order manually to reflect as cancelled in the strategy is being tracked with ID #SFT-2054.

Please note, it is up to the NinjaTrader Development to decide if and when a request will be implemented.
