IB requiring version 940 or higher of TWS API after 5/1

Based on this error message you've reported I would recommend that you shut down NinjaTrader and TWS then ensure that Java is fully updated: https://www.java.com/en/download/

Just start NT7 and it will tell you to use the latest TWS version 944_3.

That is correct, the current version of NinjaTrader to use is 7.0.1000.22

I would recommend contacting Interactive Brokers for support on using IBController with the latest version of TWS and Java

You need to modify your IBcontroller .bat file that starts TWS. It has to include the Java settings for 944.3 - right click the TWS icon and they are found in Target. For full details on how to apply them see the instructions in sampleIBControllerStart.bat that comes with IBcontroller. It might pay to upgrade to the latest version of IBcontroller, too.
