Yahoo Connection

Hi,

I realized you can connect with Yahoo to get daily charts of stocks in ninjatrader, this is great.

But I cannot load some of the indices. I can load dow (^DJIA) but cannot loat Sp500, nasdaq100 or nasdaq composite for some reason, i get an error message saying failed to retrieve data from yahoo finance.

Is this a solvable problem?

Hello zaz5000,

I was able to retrieve data for the ^SP500 index.

Please try the following. Remove the ^SP500 from the default instrument list in the Instrument Manager.

Go to Tools-->Options-->Misc-tab and click Reset Instruments.

Add the ^SP500 back and check if you receive data.

As per the ^NDX, please highlight in the 'Available master instruments' section and click Edit. Select the Misc-tab and enter ^NDX next to Yahoo.

The Nasdaq composite did not work on my end. I checked the Yahoo website and it listed N/A.

I got sp500 working after resetting instruments, but nasdaq 100 (^NDX), nasdaq comp (^COMP), russell 2000 (^RUT) are not working.

All stocks work though.

The ^COMP will not work, since Yahoo does not seem to provide data for this instrument. Please see the link below.

Aha, I did not realize you could edit the instruments. Great, i got everything working.

By the way, the ticker for nasdaq comp in yahoo is ^IXIC, so changing ^IXQ to ^IXIC solves that as well.

Yahoo connection

Hi, I'm having trouble loading charts for SLF.AX, STW.AX and SFY.AX. I can get on to the Yahoo site with the following URLs:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=SLF.AX

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=STW.AX

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=SFY.AX

Unfortunately, it tells me that NT failed to retrieve data from yahoo finance. Any help is appreciated. Other stock tickers work.

Hello eenewbie,

I tested the SLF.AX on my end as well and experienced the same.

When I check the SLF.AX link, I am unable to get historical data as well.

Select 'Historical Prices' under 'Quotes' on the left side to request historical data. It seems there is no historical daily data available.
