CLXXXX crude oil future

Hi I am looking for CLXXXX Crude Oil Full0217 Future on NT without success.
It is on Nymex,
Any recommendation how to get access to this in NinjaTrader?

Hello,

To load the CL you will need the current expiry month.

Currently, the CL is trading the February contract until Jan 18th when it will roll to the 03-17.

Try loading CL 02-17 on the chart.

CLXXXX handles the rolls, details from prorealtime attached in the picture below. Do we have access to this in NT?

Hello,

NinjaTrader can create a continuous contract view when using ##-## as the expiry. However, these cannot be traded.

For example CL ##-##.

This will use the rollover dates and will create the same view as using the current front month CL 02-17 with the merge policy set to MergeBackAdjusted.

If you are looking for an easy way to roll a chart at the proper time, I would recommend the RolloverIndications indicator.

I have a connection to Kinetic (free EOD) and IB and after trying to load the CL 03-17, I see an error message when downloading data [no Market data permission for NYMEX FUT] Could you please advice how to get access to this data?

The error is likely coming the Interactive Brokers connection.

Do you have a subscription for the CL with Interactive Brokers?
If you add the CL 02-17 as an instrument row in Interactive Brokers do you see real-time updating prices?
If you hover the mouse over this row, does the row mention delayed data?

I am not aware of any brokerage or data provider that provides unlimited free data.

The NinjaTrader Brokerage does offer a free 14-day demo that provides real-time and historical data from the live market using the NinjaTrader Continuum connection.

However, the NinjaTrader Continuum system does not provide real-time data for a continuous contract. You will need to use the proper expiry contract month actively trading for the instrument.
