Using strategy analyzer - beginner

Hi,

I was watching videos from youtube, about creating strategies and so one (Strategy Wizard 301 - NinjaTrader 7 Training,....). But seems I am getting problem with running them through analyzer ? Even with this free, downloaded from forum.

When I run most of the strategies, I am not getting anything, number of trades remain zero, even I tried to change data series type from minute to day or back.

Opened strategy analyzer, opened output window, choose the instrument, click to open backtesting, choose strategy from dropdown, changed data series, clicked on "Run Backtest" and nothing happens.
What I am missing in all this ?

Thanks for your post and welcome to the NinjaTrader forums!

Please test using the strategy SampleMACrossover. This strategy is an always in so you should get trades unless you do not have historical data. If you do not have historical data, connect to your live data feed and re-run the sampleMACrossover in the strategy analyzer. This will pull in the data needed.

This one seems working with historical data.
Thanks for hint !
2nd question would be then, how can I debug strategy ?
How can I find out what did I missed for ones which are not working ?
Did I miss something in configuration settings, params or something else ?
I took some from forum and some I created through wizard.

Thanks for your reply.

You would use print statements in your code to print out to the output window when you expect certain conditions/logic to change to verify that it is changing (or not). Alternately or in addition you can draw objects such as triangle, diamonds, dots, etc , on the chart when conditions are true.
