Hi,
Does the session template have any other effect besides not calling the OnBarUpdate() method outside session hours, and closing position at the end of the session?

Your understanding here is correct Boaz, it would determine the session begin and end times of the bars object used and thus you would see any OnBarUpdate() calls outside this time period.
