    Connecting to TD Ameritrade External Data Feed

    I created the Account connection but when I try to connect the software gets stuck on 'Connecting' for several minutes and I am unable to disconnect or cancel the process unless I exit the software. The default URL says 'apis.tdameritrade.com' but even trying to access this through a browser yields no connection. Tried to change the url to the main tdameritrade.com login page but this creates a login error.

    - please set up a new account connection and leave the server defaults (unless advised otherwise by TDA)
    - if you still can't connect: please mail logs and traces by Help->Mail to support, subject "for Dierk" and refer to this post

      Ok in the logs its saying that I can't place live orders using an NT light license. It was to my understanding that I could at least grab my data feed. Is this not correct?

        What is the exact (!) error message you see?

        Also: What do you mean by NT light license?

          Here's the message from the log:
          Category: Default
          Message: Tda.Callback.TransactionCallback: You can not place orders on a live account using your NinjaTrader Light license. Please visit www.ninjatrader.com if you wish to subscribe to NinjaTrader.


          Connecting to a yahoo feed works however.


          I did not try to place any orders. I merely tried to connect to the external data feed.

            For clarification -

            - It would seem that you created a connection for TDAMERITRADE and have successfully connected?

            If yes, what is then the issu?

            - You can't place orders? This is correct since you need a paid license to place orders.
            - You do not receive any market data for a stock (example MSFT?)
            - We have an "External Data Feed" connection and may you are using this as a term and not meaning to refer to this connection but just the TDA connection you made

              No the connection hasn't been established. In the lower left of the screen the connection status freezes at 'Connecting'. I was able to create a new Account Connection under the Tools menu. However when I try to connect under File -> Connect -> Td Ameritrade (the connection I created), this is where the problem comes in.

                Thanks for the clarification.

                Did you by change send logs/traces as per the instructions in post #2? If not, would you be so kind to do so?

                    You are right. There is bug related to the sim license and the message you saw. You should be able to connect and pull data.

                    We created a custom build. Please:
                    - uninstall NT6.5 via control panel
                    - clear your browser cache
                    - install custom build from here: www.ninjatrader-support.com/ninjatrader/nt6.5.custom/NinjaTrader.Install.msi
                    - retry connecting

                      It's still getting frozen at Connecting. In the logs the message changed from NinjaTrader 'light license' to 'simulation license'. I emailed the logs to you again. Thanks.

                        Ok, next try. Please:

                          Could you be more specific on browser cache? If you mean my web browser then I did clear that. I also deleted the NinjaTrader folder in my Documents directory that was left after I uninstalled via Control Panel. I will try again.
