Buy Sell Volume Indicator

How exactly does the Buy Sell Volume Indicator work? Why does it not show up on historical data?

With reference to the helpguide, "The BuySellVolume indicator displays a real-time horizontal histogram of volume categorized as buy or sell trades. Trades are categorized in real-time as a buy (at the ask or above) or as a sell (at the bid or below) and then color coded .... Trades in between the market are ignored". Link: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...sellvolume.htm For display purposes, it will add the buys + sells to show as buys and sells as the red. The difference between the two is the buy. Think of it it as a stacked bar chart where the bottom bar is the sells and anything above the sells would be the buys.

The indicator is real time indicator meaning that it will not display historical data, however, if you have a datafeed that supports historical tick data then you can enable the Tick Replay option that will allow the indicator to populate historically.

To enable Tick replay, first you must allow it on the platform by going to Tools>Options then market data and finally click on "Show tick Replay". This will provide the tick replay option in every chart data series.

Once enabled for the platform, on the chart, right mouse click and select "Data series..." just below the "value" for data series will be a new check box, "Tick replay", select this to enable tick replay for the chart.

Thanks Paul. I noticed I cannot click on Tick Replay option on a Renko chart. Does it only work on regular time frames?

From the helpguide, "Due to the nature of how some unique bars build, Tick Replay is NOT available for all bar types. For example, the default Renko and LineBreak bars which use RemoveLastBar() are not compatible with Tick Replay. Other custom bar types which use similar methods encounter the same limitation."
