Default Indicator question

Is there anything available for ether v6.5 or v7 that would represent commercial and noncommercial positioning in the index futures market??

I looked over the "indicators" part of the forum and couldn't spot anything.

Hello pinballmad,

Thank you for your post.

I believe you are referring to Open Interest. I am not aware of a NinjaTrader-support data provider that currently supplies this. However, I located a thread that you may be interested in reviewing. It has to do with the CFTC Commitment of Traders report & porting the data series into NinjaTrader.

Here is the link:

Please let us know if we can assist with anything else.

Thanks for the quick response Chip,

I read through the link and some others there and although interesting not quite what I was looking for. The COT data is published weekly and I was hoping to find something that tracks the changes at least on a daily time frame.

It would be perfect if the COT data could be received on an intraday basis, but as far as I konw, that's not possible. That is why I'm trying to find anything that tries to mirror/resemble/project this live..... large block trades vs small comes to mind first. Also, is it possible to place TICK/TRIN on the chart?

.... anything that uses tape reading in some shape or form would probably do.

Hello pinballmad,

Please clarify what you mean by “nothing on TICK/TRIN?”

Note: these index symbols are available by default in NinjaTrader.

Hello Chip,

my question was is it possible to place them on a chart? I also asked if the is an indicator that uses "tape reading" data?

Yes – these symbols are available by default in NinjaTrader. If your data provider has enabled you to receive the data then they can be plot to the chart.

For this type of indicator you mentioned, you will want to check out the NinjaScript File Sharing section of the forum. If you do not find what you’re looking for – you will want to post your question describing what you are looking for.

Please let me know if I can answer any additional questions.
