Default charts are blank + no back testing

Just installed NT 7 on win XP, was able to plot last night but tonight I get nothing, while connected to Yahoo and kinetict, I go File->new->Chart->Dow 30-> double click BA->OK. I get a new window with BA in the upper left, but nothing is plotted, vertical range is 0 to 0.01, with no time scale, Daily is selected in upper left too.

From a chart if I click 'data box' I get a new window with time/price/open/etc listed but no values at all.

I did try to back test a sample strategy between last night when it plotted and now, that gave no results at all, literally it showed no trades taken over a two year time frame I selected, I tried the sample MA cross over on Dow30.

I think I was able to down load data
Under tools->historical data->edit->BA-> click the + till 'day' I see good numbers under date/open/high/etc for a number of years. was also able to export to a txt file that had values in it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our forums!

Please try setting your Daily charts to the Default 24/7 session template.
  • Right click in your chart and select Data Series.
  • In the Data Series menu, set the "Session Template" property to "Default 24/7", then click OK.

Please let me know if you continue to experience issues.

thanks Matthew, the default 24/7 fixed the charting problem.

Re: no backtesing results, I fixed that with changing the data series type to Day from minute.

Yes, if you had the default session template for a single stock to 24/7 it will display chart and do the back testing ok, but what if i want to make back testing on the 500 stocks of s&p 500, do i have to change them all???? any quick work around for this issue?

thanks.

From the 'strategy analyzer' clicking on the root of the list ie 'sp500' then changing the data series type worked for me, I did not try and dont know if you can test a strategy from a chart window. dont quote me to much as I am at work and dont have NT installed here.

I have the same problem here, after update to live 7.06 from 7.05. No charting and backtesting in marketanalyzer.
The workaround fix the problem, 24/7, but not the marketanaylzer screener.

I really appreciate it to fix the bug as soon as possible.
And no: I dont't want to downgrade...

Yeah, the strategy analyzer seems buggy on if it will do anything or not, and I dont always get the option to set 24/7. Seems to help if I dont 'tack' or disable the autohide, but that could just be superstition.

This issue will be resolved in the upcoming release of NT V7.0.1000.7. We do not have an ETA on when this will be released, however you will receive an in product announcement when the new version is released.
