Things to know

*IMPORTANT: Documentation is currently updated for Version 2. MP3 training files are only up to date for version 1.

NinjaTrader is a VB .Net application. It requires the MS 1.1 .Net Framework to operate.

NinjaTrader (NT) allows you to interface directly to Trader's Workstation (TWS) from Interactive Brokers. It does not replace, nor take precedence over TWS. NinjaTrader allows you to open, manage and exit a position more efficiently than within TWS itself.

Some important things to consider are:

1) NT manages one position at a time. Multiple positions can be managed by running multiple instances of NT simultaneously

2) NT support equities, futures and bonds

3) NT relies on TWS for provide position information. If you open a position for 1 contract in NT, and a position already exists for the same instrument in TWS, the full position will be reported to NT.

4) NT only passes data to and from TWS. Therefore, TWS remains the primary application and reflects at all times the accurate state of positions and orders. It is possible that NT may not reflect accurately your current order status due to reasons out of NT's control, or, due to software bugs. With this in mind, it is recommended to always have TWS side by side NT to confirm that the information NT is sending is accurate.
