    Unable to connect to database

    Hi,

    Unable to run Ninjatrader ver 7. Worked in past, but now I get the following message:

    Unable to connect to database 'Data Source="C|Users\jblogg\Documents\NinjaTrader7\db\N injaTrader.sdf"': ObjectSpace: Connection String is Invalid- Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation

    I have not a clue what the above means, but it does stop NT7 from loading. I have tried reinstalling, Uninstalling + deleting files and reinstalling. I have tried assinging administrator rights etc. NO SUCCESS.

    I have a work PC that it works fine on, is it something in the registry?

    The file IS there.

    My system is Windows 7 64x

    Hello Sunrise,

    Thank you for your post.

    Please rename your database.
    • To rename the DB:
    • Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
    • Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> DB--> NinjaTrader.sdf.
    • Right click on NinjaTrader.sdf and select "Rename."
    • Name it "NewNinjaTrader.sdf."
    • Then restart the software.

    Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.

      Hi,

      Just tried renaming file. Still same issue. Looking into the directory I can see NT7 did create a new file.

      No joy so far.

        Please send a note to Support [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com with "ATTN: Chris" in the subject line.

        In the message, please include the following:
        1.) A link to this forum thread.
        2.) Your most current trace and log files.

        You will find the file here: My Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace > trace.YYYYMMDD.txt

        Log file will be located by going to Documents->NinjaTrader 7->Log->log.YYYYMMDD.txt

            I'm also seeing exactly the same error. Any news on this issue? It looks like 64-bit NT7 does not work!

                64 bit NT 7 works!

                Hi NinjaTrader_Austin,

                It works! Your identification and solution of the problem was spot on. I uninstalled my outdated Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition and Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1, and then installed Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 32-bit, and then installed Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 64-bit. Microsoft forces the 32-bit version to be installed before the 64-bit version.

                    I had the same exact problem with Windows 7 and Ninja Trader 64-bit would give that error. I did what dday recommended and updated from Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1 to Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 and now it works perfectly. Thanks you guys!
