    Thanks for the feedback, currently expected as all the magnifying glass does is pull up the search window and as you found and does not keep what you had typed.

    I'm adding this to the list for internal discussion though as you're not the only one that ran into this user experience issue.

      Tools -> Instruments -> Search All not working properly

      When I wish to lookup and edit a futures instrument - for example ZM - the search

      Instruments -> Search All -> ZM

      does not return any positives. However

      Instruments -> Search Future -> ZM

      retrieves the soybean meal contract I have been looking for.

      The same problem applies to FOREX instruments.


      While "Stock" and "Index" seems to be a subcategory of "All", "Future" and "FOREX" instruments are not returned when "Search All" is used.

        I'm not seeing that particular issue on my end, Harry. Can you tell me exactly where you are using this feature (chart toolbar, Data Series window, SuperDOM, etc.)? Also, are you on the Beta 5 build, just to be certain?

          I am in Beta 5, and I have already exactly described below where I see that issue.

            Hello Harry,

            Thank you for your response.

            I created a video demonstrating how the Instruments under Tools should search for the ZM with All selected. You can view this video at the following link: http://screencast.com/t/Rlym8n1w0Zmp

            Please send us your log and trace files as well as your database so we may investigate further. You can send these by going to Help > Email Support > ensure the Database option is selected under Other Files.               On my side the database shown when going to Instruments -> Search All only shows a few instruments, see screenshots attached.

              Futures instruments only appear when Instruments -> Search Futures is selected.


              When I delete (or rename) the file NinjaTrader.sdf in the data base directory, NinjaTrader recreates it, but it is flawed again, now omitting other instruments.

                In fact it is not linked to the db file but internal bug. Please have a look at the sequence below. I am only changing the button that comes after the Search label, nothing else. When changing

                All -> Futures -> All -> FOREX -> All

                I am getting correct lists for Futures and FOREX, but for All I am getting different results in a non-consistent way. Each time some instruments are missing in the box.

                Please comapre the instrument lists below for Search -> ALL, and you will find that they are all different and false.

                When searching one of the sub-categories, I did not have any problem so far.

                  Now I also managed to get the complete list once for "Search ALL". Then switched to "Search Futures" and back to "Search ALL", and it was gone again.

                  Seams to be luck, which instruments appear and which don't.
