    Suggestion NinjaScript Explorer

In NinjaScript Explorer, it would be useful have commands to copy / paste items (using the mouse or a contextual menu). In this moment, you can only move them with the mouse.

    Regards.

I would also added an option to separate built-ins from custom studies. Otherwise every search begins with scrolling.

      a) A separate "virtual" folder - same physical folders but a separate folder in SE
      b) A checkbox to hide built-ins
      c) Something else?

      Best regards

would like to pick your brains, I have not searched here extensively, I would like to know if there is an existing indicator that will alert me when a certain amount of volume has been reached on a 3K tick bar chart, above and below a certain pre determined amount.
I have a custom indicator which alerts me when the same chart 'closes' above or below a certain amount, would it be easy to adjust this?

        Thanks in advance.

          Hello CustomTradingSystem,

          Thank you for your response.

You can right click and select New Folder, you can then move the files with a left click and drag to the folder. This way you can separate the files. I will forward your suggestions to development.

            Hello superhans,

            Thank you for your post.

Are you looking for how to do this in NinjaTrader 8 or NinjaTrader 7?

Not sure how well New Folder functionality works here.

First, it doesn't create a physical folder meaning that in VS project all indicators will still be in one folder. This also leads to file name conflicts.

Second, NT8 does not generate the code for items that are located in such "sub-folders".

I would see this feature this way:
              - Any custom folder becomes a physical folder with a corresponding namespace
              - Built-ins are in a separate folder/namespace

              or, a minimalistic implementation:
              - all user indicators are in another, static folder, no custom folders
              - all built-ins are in a separate folder/namespace

                Hello CustomTradingSystem,

                Thank you for your response.

The NinjaScript generated code item is known and we are looking into. Thank you for your additional suggestions.

                  Thanks, Patrick

Just a minor note: after NT8 re-installation all custom studies do not appear anymore in the end of the list, instead they are sorted with built-ins.

For example, TestIndicator before uninstall was the last item but after re-installation it is not the last anymore, it follows TEMA.

                      Hello CustomTradingSystem,

                      Thank you for your response.

My files have always been alphabetical as well. If you create a new indicator, does it place it in the list alphabetically now? Or does it place it at the bottom again?

                        Hi Patrick,

Yep, a new indicator has also been placed alphabetically in NS Explorer now.

Note that I also had create a new folder + indicator (placeholder) in it. Other than that it's all default.

Just to clarify this point for everyone -- creating a new folder in the NinjaScript Editor is not intended to create actual folders in your file system. Instead, these are "virtual" folders, as you mentioned, which are achieved by editing the scripts to add them to a new namespace, which is then used to separate the scripts visually within the Editor and the various UI's in which they are accessed (Strategies window, Indicators window, etc.).

Note that this is how this feature currently works in Beta 3, but anything is subject to change before the official launch of NinjaTrader 8.
