    Concurrent use of NT8 and NT7

    Will installing NT8 beta on my production machine to test cause any issues with my current installation of NT7?

    Or should I install NT8 on a dedicated virtual machine to test, to avoid any possible conflict?

    I have both running at the same time with no issues you just need two different data feeds and brokerage accounts if you want to trade live. If you have DTNIQ or possibly Kinetick you can connect both 7 and 8 to the same feed.

      You can run both NinjaTrader 7 and 8 at the same time. Keep in mind, as suggested by James108, that certain connections will only allow one connection at a time. With Kinetick for example, you should be able to connect on both NinjaTrader 7 and 8 at the same time.

        How about Interactive broker datafeed?
        Can it be shared between NT7 and NT8 simultaniously?

          I'm using TWS Gateway and it seems to be working as long as you give them different app id's.

              When I try running NT7 and NT8 on the same machine using Kinetick, I get a "Kinetick: Disconnect enforced by 2nd login to the same account"

              Perhaps you mean only Kinetick EOD data?

                Thank you for your response.

                That was my mistake, you would only be able to be connected to Kinetick Real-Time in one installation (NinjaTrader 7 or 8) at the same time. So being connected in both NinjaTrader 7 and 8 to Kinetick would not be possible.

                  Just ended a chat with IB tech support. To connect TWS to NT7 and NT8 (beta or official release) at the same time you need to change the Client ID and leave the ports the same. NT7 Client ID = 0, NT8 Client ID = 1.

                    My IB connection does not work with NT8B05

                    Hi there,

                    Running NT 7 and NT 8 B05 special for Rithmic on the same machine.
                    I can connect with NT7 no problem to my IB account.
                    I disconnect NT 7 and trying to connect to IB wiht NT8 and does not work.

                    I've tried both, TWS and Gateway connections. Both case all I can see on NT8 "Connecting..." I'll let it run for a while now see if any error message pops up.
                    Status:
                    Rithmic - Connected
                    IB - Connecting

                    Did try to upgrade to latest TWS... no change.

                    Running out of ideas...
                    Please advise what am I missing.

                    ps.: remembering from past NT7 would not necessary work with all the changes IB came up with and had to downgrade or stay at a certain level... wonder if I have a similar situation?.

                        Just to confirm, you have changed the port that NinjaTrader 8 is connecting to, is this correct?

                          Chelsea, not sure why would I need to do that... My test was NT7 shutdown. There was no need to change the port.
