    Database Window

    Possible bug in database window:

When I press the update under the "Update instruments" section, the Update buttons for both the "Update instruments" and "Update instrument list" get highlighted. Is that expected behavior?

When I run a historical data download (futures tick, minute, day with bid/ask/last) for the last 6 months it pins my CPU. Is that normal?

    1) It is expected that both the Update buttons will disabled. This is to prevent subsequent attempts to update the instrument database while one process is already running.

    2) Yes, it is normally for the CPU to increase during this operation, this is a result of the multi-threaded nature of NinjaTrader 8

I'll also provide info on the CPU spike ->

NinjaTrader 7 would send off one historical data request at a time.

NinjaTrader 8 now sends off multiples at a time.

This is more CPU intensive but loads data faster. We're monitoring feedback on this change in NT8. So if you have any thoughts on that let me hear em

      Thank You.

        Hi Brett,
I'm fine with CPU spike, especially as I would generally only download a lot of data after hours (I am curious what causes the CPU spike as I would think it would be more network IO, database inserts possibly?). What I would really like to see under the database tab is the ability to schedule downloads after hours. How I would envision this working is as follows:

        The ability to:
        a) set the time of the download for all of my symbols in all my symbol lists (like a cron job)
        b) data to download daily/minute/tick last/ask/bid
        c) logic built in to ensure I have all data possible by my data provider and ensure I don't ever accidentally delete any history and continue to grow my data history
        d) handle corrections or a reasonable amount of data refresh to catch corrections (maybe 2-3 days of overlap when making data update requests)

If you guys don't create this I will probably look to create an AddOn that does this at one point.
