    FEATURE REQUEST: Silence!

It would be nice to globally silence NT8 sounds. Sometimes they are not needed and sometime they are simply not welcome. It would be good to have a quick way to disable all sounds. See attached proposed implementation screen shot.

What about the volume mixer in Windows? You can turn off nt in there? I do that in win7 on market replay. Xp doesn't have it.

The OS already handles that. Turn off NT specifically in the volume mixer.

Yes, that works, but if you are listening to music or streaming radio it doesn't.

Also, the sounds take system resources that simply are not needed at time.

Um, no. You can silence only NT specifically and all other input sources will still work.

I can't say I know how to silence just one program like you have stated on my system, but the issue is more of the Multimedia processing in the background weather it is heard or not.

Picture a system with 40 to 80 strategies all entering around market open, this puts an enormous load on the CPU to generate all the sound that is simply not needed. It would be nice to avoid generating sound, like I assume is done during back testing and Playback at high speeds.

You make a good point. I shall have to run a test to see if muting a specific application actually stops it from processing sound, or just stops it from sending the output to the speakers, but still processes the sounds.

Looks like you are right: the load on the system is still being generated when one uses the OS to mute the sound; the sound is simply not being sent to the speakers.

What you suggest is a better option, if the option you propose would mean that the sounds will not be generated at all.
