BUG: NT 8 Beta hangs (freezes) while adding a new chart (tab)

    Hi Patrick,

    I was unable to reproduce this problem yesterday evening and today, after I restarted NinjaTrader a couple of times when NinjaTrader was frozen while adding new tabs. Today, I have added several tabs to the same window without any problems. I will keep on monitoring this problem and report to you when it recurs.

    Are you able to reproduce this error consistently?

    If you are, can you please detail the exact steps you take from when you open the platform to when the error occurs?

    1. Version of NinjaTrader is 8.0.0.3 (Standard) - BETA
    2. Yes, the chart window is already opened; I'm adding a new tab by clicking "+".
    3. The instrument is USDCAD when this occurred.

    Thanks for the post.

    So I may try to recreate the issue on my end, please answer the following questions:

    What version of NinjaTrader are you using? You can check this under Help > About (example: 8.0.0.3)

    When you say "Add a new tab", do you mean you already have a chart window open and you are opening a tab on that window? Or are you opening a new chart by going to New > Chart?

    What instrument are you using when this occurs?

    1. NT 8 is connected to Interactive Broker for real-time market data.

    2. Add a new tab

    3. Select an instrument for a 15 min. chart

    4. After clicking OK, NT 8 hangs (freezes)

    5. Have to kill NT 8 using Windows Task Manager

    Is there any information you need to diagnose this problem?

    However, I found a workaround to this problem:

    After restarting NT 8 and before connecting to Interactive Brokers, to get around this problem, I added the tab for 15 min. chart for that instrument. Then, I connect to Interactive Brokers and the new tab will update with real-time data.
