NT8 B4 -write cache error

About all I remember is hitting F5 to compile a strategy and moving the slider back to start of timeline on Playback-MarketReplay ...

Tried to do both again and didn't get it.

Do you have an anti virus/firewall installed on your system and if so which one? (example: Norton, AVG, Avast)
Do you have a backup or auto backup program running on your system?

No backup software.

You will need to ensure NinjaTrader is added to Microsoft Security Essentials exceptions list.

You will need to exclude the following directories.
C:\Program Files (x86)\NinjaTrader 8 or C:\Program Files\NinjaTrader 8
(My) Documents\NinjaTrader 8

I'd like to know more about this. First, I presume you mean ninja trader 8 and not 7. But why must ninja trader "misbehave" in the opinion of virus programs? Already I've heard a few concerns by support about virus checking. I've used many dozens of other software packages that don't have this issue. What is special about Ninja Trader that could cause file locking problems? E.g. OneDrive is a complete pain about locking files, and soon many (if not most) default installations of NT are going to be into OneDrive. (The internet is full of complaints about OneDrive behaviors, but msoft is glacial at best.)

So I'm not complaining, but as a developer who keeps hearing about this, I wonder what I "need to know". I have AVG. Visual Studio also now installs a service that sometimes locks project files or directories.

Any protection program can prevent NinjaTrader from functioning. Sometimes they will work without issues and sometimes they will cause problems. Some client's have reported their protection to work for years without issue and then one day it blocks NinjaTrader. To ensure that your protection will always work with NinjaTrader you will need to add exceptions. If your protection is scanning the files while NinjaTrader is trying to access them or blocking NinjaTrader from accessing the files, you will get this error. You will get this error if any other program is trying to access NinjaTrader's files while NinjaTrader is trying to access them.
