    Tick Chart Appearance In 8

Hi...in 8, tick charts do not look anything like in 7....bars way too fat and cannot read articulate patterns....have bar width set to 1...am I doing someting incorrect here...??
Attached chart HiLo...could see very clearly many more bars in 7 in same time frame...

Do you need a wider margin around the chart for some reason ??...7 margin much better...

Replay box always on top...?? ...want to hide this sometimes...shows up now when IE is opened over Ninja...

Incidentally...when you click on thumbnail attached....always get the spinning thing...does not seem to open correctly at first shot....

    Thanks...

    Hello Alfred,

The sizing issue is due to the Open/Close chart style applied to the chart.
If the Candlestick chart style is applied do you see the candles get smaller?

The Open/Close chart style was not available to NinjaTrader 7 so I am not able to compare the behavior of this. However, I will send a feature request in your behalf for this chart style to allow smaller width.

The Market Replay Controller is always on top of other windows because there is no icon on the task bar created for this window. This means that is is possible to lose this window without being able to find it with the task bar icon.

Would you like to submit a request to allow the always on top to be removed from the Market Replay Controller?

You mentioned HiLo but your screenshot has OpenLow which is a different chart style. Can you switch to the OHLC and select the "HiLo" mode and compare to NT7?

        Matthew.......yes...HiLo or HLC works like 7 for appearance...looks good ...thanks ! ....

Do think a more narrow chart margin all charts would be better...

I do not use playback that much....can live with it as now....a change would be OK though...

In the Control Center...think the vertical space in the Time Catagory Message row at top could be a bit less with same text size...
and similarly in the Orders Executions etc row vertical space could shrink quite a bit with same text size....bottom row overly fat vertically now...

        Thanks...

          Hello Alfred,

I have submitted a feature request in your behalf for the Open/Close chart style to allow for smaller bar widths.

Regarding your additional inquiry, I'd like to clarify what you are asking for.

          When you mention
"In the Control Center...think the vertical space in the Time Catagory Message row at top could be a bit less with same text size...",
are you talking about the Time column width on the Orders tab of the Control Center?

The width of the columns in any grid are adjustable and can be adjusted to a width of your liking. Click and drag on the column separators (the very faint line in between columns) to adjust the column width.

              Hello Alfred,

I have submitted a request in your behalf to reduce the amount of empty space along the edges of windows in NinjaTrader as well as in between the menu title bar and the tab space in the Control Center.

This is a skinnable item. If you want a narrower margin, edit your current skin file and change the "MarginBase" in the Blueprint.xaml. The default value is 8, but you could set that to 0 if you wish.

For example, to edit the "Light" skin:

                Navigate to Documents\NinjaTrader 8\templates\Skins\
There is a folder for each skin, so if you wish to change the Light, open the "Light" folder
Open the BluePrint.xaml file in a text editor
Around line 305, you'll find the MarginBase key, edit the value as you wish

                Code:
                  <system:Double	x:Key="MarginBase">0</system:Double>
After changed, save the file and restart NinjaTrader.

In fact, a lot of the margin complaints you have brought up in various threads are editable in this skin blueprint file, perhaps it's worth a look

                  marginbase 0

                  Hello Matthew,

With MarginBase 0 the chart trader visuals looks broken.

MarginBase does change the look of other feature as they all use this standard setting which we were satisfied with a value of 8. Your milage may vary.

                      Hello Mathew,

Did you show the picture to the devs? Border 0 doesn't mean the buttons should cover the toolbar.

Is there a similar parameter for setting the tabs height globally?

It is not a border property but a margin base property that is used universally across the application to keep a consistent style. Tab heights are controlled either by the same or similar property that is added to the bottom and top of the font to arrive at the tab height.

Ray , set the MarginBase to 0 and see how the chart trader looks like.

Right, that's my point. Its not a property exclusive to borders, its a universal property used in a number of various areas to maintain consistent spacing between objects.

You are suggesting there is a fault in the control layout, which won't be changed, but how the original problem - remove margin around the chart solved with that?
