NT8 won't start with NT7 running

    NT8 won't start with NT7 running

    If I start NT8 before NT7 all is well

    If I start NT7 then try and load NT8 i get this message

    This just started with B6

    Hello,

    Thank you for your note.


    It appears your installation was not complete or possibly corrupt. Can you please close NinjaTrader 7 then start NinjaTrader 8 and let the installation process complete.

    After NinjaTrader 8 installation has completed please open NinjaTrader 7 then open NinjaTrader 8 and let me know if the issue persists.

      I'm experiencing the opposite problem: I have to start NT7 before starting NT8, otherwise NT7 complains and refuses to start.

        Every time NT8 starts it does the completing installation step, like every time is the first time.

        should I just reinstall NT8 to see if that fixes it?

          What system are you using? Windows version?

          Do you even have write access to your Documents folder?

          In C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\ is there a Config.xml or any other folder?

            yes there is a config.xml

            the install remembers all the stored settings

                  I was able to successful start NT7 7.0.1000.27 32 bit after starting NT8B6 32 bit on Windows 10 32 bit home. Both with @SIM keys.

                  What is NT7's complaint? NT already running in background?

                      this is a desktop withIvy Bridge i7 4930K 6 core with 64 GB and a Samsung 850 Pro for SSD

                        I just tried on Win 10 32bit with NT7 32 bit loaded in, then NT8 32 bit loaded in just fine.

                          I just tried this again and it works as expected. Nothing was changed, I will report back if it happens again

                            Did you reboot or anything else in between?

                            Frigging computers!!!

                            Is there anything in your NT8 Trace logs that might hint at anything?

                              Yes there was a reboot but that was done numerous times prior to no effect. Nothing that i can see in the trace files
