    NT8 b6 crash on enabling a strategy on Default 24x7 session template

    1. Windows 10. Clean NT8 b6 installation. Previous Documents\NinjaTrader 8\ folder had been removed before the last installation. No NT7 data imported. No custom indicators, no custom strategies, no custom workspaces.

    2. Create any chart (no custom settings, everything by default). Add any sample strategy (for example @SampleMACrossOver) to the chart. Enable the strategy in Control Center. The strategy is working, everything is OK.

    3. Disable the strategy and choose Default 24x7 session template. Enable the strategy again. NT8 is crashed.

      I am currently not able to reproduce what you're reporting.

      On my end, I connected to Kinetick and Opened a ES 12-15 Chart. Enabled the SampleMACrossOver to the chart. Disabled, then right-click > Data Series > Set the Default 24/7 Session Template. Re enabled the strategy.

      Let me know if there are any steps I missed in replicating.

        I'm connected to Continuum, maybe that's the key? The rest is the same. The bug is consistent on my end.

          My crash was caused by:

          Visual studio shows 'An unhandled exception of type 'System.StackOverFlowException' ocurred in mscorlib.dll

          Patrick told me to post my crash here also, though we don't seem to be talking about the same reason for the crash...

              quicktrick, I don't see the same when connected to NinjaTrader Continuum as well, could you please send me your log and trace files along with a link to this forum page?

              You will find the log file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > Log folder.

              Send any log file dated when you experience the crash.

              You will find the trace file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.

              Send any trace file dated when you experience the crash.

                    Hello Eric,

                    I tried some more things recently. I bought a new computer and installed Windows 10. I installed NT8 b6, and no other software yet. I tried that issue on the new computer. NT8 crashed the same way. Then I thought the cause may be because of my regional settings. I changed my regional settings and time and number formats to the United States'. The issue exists anyway. There is nothing I can do anymore. And I have no idea why you don't experience the same issue.

                      Sorry for the oversight; on my end, I was enabling the strategy from the Chart, not the Control Center. When enabled and disabled this way, I do see the same.

                      I have reported this to our Development team to look into further.

                        There is some more illogical behavior concerning strategies. Try to follow these steps:

                        1. Add a strategy in the Control Center (not on a chart), enable and disable it and then close NT8.
                        2. Start NT8. The strategy "Enabled" checkbox is not checked, but the strategy is working (why?).

                            Hello Eric,

                            I use Print() to print some messages to the output window while the strategy is running. I can't say anything about orders because I haven't written that code in my strategy yet.

                              Update:
                              Eric, I can't say it for sure yet, but at first view it seems that there isn't such an issue in beta 7.

                              And it seems that the problem with changing templates is solved too.
