Setting a hotkey

In NT 7 you could use things like OemQuestion for part of a key...
like Alt + OemQuestion....can this be done in V 8 ??

Also...say you want Alt + D as maybe a Line draw tool hotkey....can you give me a step by step explaination on how to do this...?? (I tried the NT help area method)...

Hello,

Yes you can configure a Hot Key combination Alt+OemQuestion or Alt+D using the steps I have provided below:

• Go to Tools->Hot Keys
• Select Chart within the Catagories
• Scroll down to Line
• Hover your mouse over F2
• Left click to Record a new Hot Key
• Hold down Alt then select the next key such as ?, D, etc.
• Click Ok

Wild Card Hotkey Slots ??

Here is an error I get (screen shot) when attempt to assign F10 to anything as a hot-key...
(can assign F10 OK in version 7)....F10 not showing on anything else in hot keys in V8...

Also...what about having say 6 or so wild card hot-key slots....one could assign anything on the hot-key list to a wild card slot and then assign a hot-key to that.....that way you could have different colors etc for something and easily get it with a separate hot-key.

Hello Alfred,

Thank you for the update. I have submitted this feature request under ticket #1421742 for wild card hotkey slots to allow you to pick an item to add a hotkey for and assign a hotkey to that item. I cannot guarantee that this feature will or will not make it into a future release.

Creating hotkeys In 8...cannot make Ctrl or Alt work with a combination of either LWin or RWin....
for example, get an error message with Ctrl+LWin.....
Ctrl+ LWin works OK in 7.

Setting a new key...a combination of "Alt + Space" does not work....this worked OK in 7.

Wild Card Slots for Hot Keys

Below is an example of what one could do with wild card hot keys...
For example, one could have different colors on draw tools and assign a hot key for separate color sets...one for buys & one for sells...this could make it easier to sort things out visually on a chart.

....screen shot below with two color combos on the trend channel...

....perhaps have 5 or 10 wild card hot key slots....
