    B7 - Chart Style not persisted when switching bars types

    I am not sure if this has been reported, but this issue persists as of beta 7 - it appears that the selected chart style is not persisted properly when switching bars types. Any time you switch between bars types - from minute to Daily, or tick, for example - then the chart style is always reset back to candlestick regardless of the current setting.

    To reproduce this behavior, open any chart and set it to OHLC or any other chart style, and then switch to any interval of a different bars type using either the instrument selector or the Data Series window and you will see that the chart style is always reset to candlestick.

    If you simply switch to a different interval of the same bars type (3m to 5m, for example), then the correct chart style is retained.

    Hello sdonahue,

    Thank you for your post!

    This is an expected item. Each bar type is going to have a saved template that would include the Chart Style setting. To save the the chart style per bar type, please see the steps below:

    * Right click in the background of the chart and select "Data Series..."
    * In the Data Series window, Set the 'Type'
    * Set the Chart Style
    * Click preset minute right above the "Apply" button (may say different bar type)
    * Click save

    Do this for all of the bar types you would like to save a chart style too.

      Hi,

      That does not make sense at all. If I have a 3min Chart and then change to a Daily Chart, I would not expect to Bar Style (eg OHLC to CandleStick) to change, just because I had not defined it in the defaults. Nor would I expect to have to go into each Data Type and then individually change each default Bar style for that Bar Type.

      This will just cause confusion for Users, as such, please can I vote for this to be changed.

        At a minimum, whether or not the chart style is invariant for the chart/tab, or is instead invariant for the bar type, should be a user configurable option.

          Hello folks,

          Thank you for your feed back!

          Absolutely, I will submit this to our Product Development team for consideration to have the the Chart Style not affected when changing the bar type. Additionally, the presets will also affect the Days to Load and the default Value settings. I will also update you with a feature request ID once I get word back from Product Development.

          Thanks again for your feedback.

              Hi Riley,

              Brilliant thank you.

              Please note, that this should apply to the Bars loaded (Data History) as well, because not only will users want the Chart Style to remain the same if we change Bar Period (eg Daily to Weekly) but also the amount of data history we have on our chart should remain the same as well.

              Thanks

                Hi Riley,

                I just went to report this as a bug also and found this thread. I agree with the others below that in an open chart, if we change the interval period to a different data type (min to daily, for example) that it should retain the current charts 'chart style'.

                Could you please add my vote for the change?

                Cheers,
                Shane

                            Hello.
                            I only use candles style, but I think it's a wrong implementation if a chart reverts to default bar style on period change, so I am voting up.

                            Thanks,
                            Alen
