BUG: Index data does not download from TD Ameritrade

    1) Connect to TD Ameritrade
    2) New chart
    3) Select instrument - Indexes : ^SP500
    4) OK
    5) Blank chart

Tools : Historical Data shows a line for ^SP500, but no data. Tools : Instruments shows that the symbol is mapped to $SPX.X for TD Ameritrade. Log does not record any error, and does show that TDA is connected (green light).

Following the same steps but selecting SPY produces a beautiful data chart, and data in Tools : Historical Data.

    Thanks!

    Hello gregsallee,

Thank you for writing in. Could you please confirm if this occurs with any index that you attempt to access or just the ^SP500? Could you please also confirm that you have index data enabled with TDAmeritrade for the account you are using? This will help me to narrow down the issue.

    Thank you in advance.

      Thanks, Michael!

      Works correctly for ^COMP, ^DJIA, and ^TICK, but none of the others in the Indexes group (^ADD, ^ADV, ^DVOL, ^NDX, ^OEX, ^PCR, ^RUI, ^SP500, ^TICKDJ, ^TICKQ, ^TRIN, ^TRINQ, ^UVOL, ^VIX, ^VOL, and ^XAU). None of these cause any log message to occur, only a blank chart.

I'm able to see TDA index data fine on the TOS platform, can see $SPX.X on the TDA website, and have everything enabled on my TDA account except for Forex, so I kind of think index information must be enabled - but I don't see a specific place in my TDA profile to determine whether or not it's available through the TDA API. If you think it might not be (despite ^DJIA being visible), then I'll be happy to call them to verify.

      Thanks!
      Greg

Can you open a new Market Analyzer window under New->Market Analyzer then add ^SP500 and let me know if you receive data successfully in the Last column.

Yes, I do. It shows the Last Price, though not the Bid or the Ask.

          Thanks!

I will need to do some additional testing on my end and will follow up as soon as I gather additional information.

I was able to reproduce this on my end as well. I have forwarded this to our development team and will follow up after I gather additional information.
