NT 8 Crashes on Exit

    NT 8 Crashes on Exit

    Hi support,

    Each time I exit NT 8 I get an error box pop up as per the attached image.

    50% of the time thereafter, I need to re-install NT8 as it hangs on the next startup.

    Any ideas?

    I'm running Win 10 Pro with 24GB memory and 1TB Hard drive.

    Thanks for your report. I suspect this is related to an issue which should be fixed with next beta (should be out in a couple of days). Please let us know as the issue would persist after updating.

        Hi Dierk,

        Thanks for your reply, I look forward to a fix.

        Regarding exiting NT8, unless I am being really stupid - which is a possibility - the only way to exit the application is by hitting the 'X' in the top RH corner. Why isn't there a proper EXIT function in some FILE drop down like in ALL other Windows apps?

              All browsers no longer have file->exit. IE 11 does have it, but you have to turn it on.

              It's a thing of the past. Let it go.

                It's just bad design in my view. Nothing to do with old fashioned.

                Conformity makes life easier for everyone.

                BTW I use Firefox - it has File -> Exit, and so do almost all windows apps including TradeStation, FXCM TradingStation, Photoshop, Spotify, etc., even Chrome has a sort of Exit button in the main menu.

                Having just an 'X' in the top right corner is sloppy in my view and not professional.

                  I had to turn on the menu for FF.

                  There's been some discussion previously:




                  New->exit wouldn't make much sense.

                  I keep going to tools menu for the Ninjascript editor and trade performance reports.

                    I have submitted your proposal to have a more traditional way to exit NinjaTrader as a feature request. I will update this thread at a later time with a request ID. Thank you for helping NinjaTrader 8 be the best product it can be.

                      I also experience this issue and reported it sometime ago. I hit the "abort" button, it goes away and nothing comes of it. I've never had to re-install because of it.

                        NJ Still Crashing

                        Hi Support,

                        I'm still having to repair NJ v8 nearly every morning as per the same issue I started this thread with. It still crashes on almost every exit and then won't restart without a repair.

                        I know v8 is still in beta, but this is getting painful.

                        Can you please advise and help me fix the problem.

                          Still getting this once in a while with beta 9.
                          Maybe related to being connected to more than one datafeed (CQG and DTN IQ)
                          But I NEVER reinstall Ninjatrader, in my experience that has been a useless waste of time.
                          I restart with an empty Workspaces folder and rebuild my charts from templates one by one unless and until something cracks, which shows where the problem is, since crashes seem to usually be caused by custom indicators.

                            Yes I am connected to more than 1 data feed.

                            I have no apparent choice but to repair NJ as the Control Panel window is frozen on startup. There is nothing I can do. Repair only takes a minute anyway but it's annoying.

                              As with Beta 8, I am still getting this same error message in Beta 9, however I click on the abort button, the message goes away and nothing further comes of it. I have never had to reload or reinstall NT as a result of the error.
