Typing on the keyboard with focused chart...

Hello,

when you are typing a letter or something and you have a active chart focused, it automatically opens the big instrument search textbox? Can this be avoided?

I am using a custom textbox with TextChanged Event on the Chart Trader panel and when trying to type in this textbox Ninjatrader always automatically greys everything out and opens the Instrument Search Text.

Thank you for the question,

After review with product management,
Keyboard events work in a 'bubble down' fashion where subscribed listeners get events and pass it down the key event to the next subscriber (or eat and don't pass it down it if programmed to do so).

The problem in your case would be that a chartcontrols overlay instrument selector is higher up in the chain then you would have access to.

This has been submitted as a feature request to be looked further into.

I see, yeah because as right now you can't use custom textboxes on the chart

Maybe we could also just disable this automatic instrument search functionality when typing an alphanumeric character on a keyboard on an active chart. To be true, I find this not really useful. If I want to search an instrument I can do so in the dropdown of the chart anyway.
