Global Draw Object locks up NT8

    Summary:

I had three charts open, current Contract period (YM-06)...RTH trading hours.....all data loaded from NinjaContinuum.
I drew a Y-Axis zone on one chart, then made it "global" to show on all charts.
Later went back to that zone, clicked to activate the draw object and tried to change it's location on the chart...(move to another price area).

    - I got all sorts of nasty 'red' error messages'...
    - the chart locked up tight ..couldn't access it couldn't click to close it
    - Used Windows Task manager to kill the 'locked' chart
    - Other charts kept working ... but after the error messages I decided to
shut down the workspace. Ninja allowed me to shut down the workspace.
    - Tried to do a 'graceful' close of of NT8....
    - Got the error mentioned below.

    Observations:
    - There were no 'vendor indicators' running at the time of the error.....
    - I have had the 'global draw' cause a lockup once before, doing much the
the same thing I was doing here. I didn't report it because at the time I thought
I had simply been impatient and tried to move a global draw before a separate
chart had finished 'loading data'....but today that was not the case.

I saved the log/trace files....can send them to whomever at Ninja wants them.

Thank you for reporting this one to us. I'm not seeing the same thing on my end when I go through this scenario, but perhaps something is missing. Do you have a workspace you can share, which would reproduce the issue when moving the object?

...sigh ( I was hoping you might find something)

Sorry....I do not have that workspace anymore.
When NT8 starts throwing weird errors and locking up, I now blow away the current installation...(all files, folders and even registry entries)....and rebuild from scratch.
I know this is overkill, but thru out beta I eventually learned to kill-and-start over rather than keep fighting some weird issue too long.

Anecdotally, the common thread I am seeing span across the few (and hard to trap) errors I have been getting.....

      - Multi-time frame indicator code
      - Split session Trading hours....(overnight 2am-8:30am and cash market
      8:30am thru 3:35pm
      - Tick Replay checked on some...(but not all)...charts

      - On a Tick Replay enabled chart:
... Trying to reload a Tick Replay enabled chart from template that contains
multi time frame code tends to start throwing errors
... Occasionally changing the 'time frame' of an existing TickReplay chart
      and multi-time frame code
(Ex: changing 30 second chart to 60 second or changing the lookback
      period )

      - Accidentally naming a workspace YM-03 seemed to cause some strange
      behavior

None of the problems occur on command.
None of the problems present a clear 1-2-3 step error process, so I am unsure what exactly triggers the problems and what is simply 'noise' and irrelevant.

Clearing the workspace and starting over tends to help.
Sometimes killing the cache files helps.
Sometime I have had to kill all historical data and reload...

Thanks for laying that out. I will do some testing around those parameters and see if I can cause anything out of the ordinary to occur. As I was testing this morning, I did run into some Global Drawing Tool issues that just might be related to the issue you were seeing, although it wasn't the exact same thing. The good news is that the issue I saw was only reproducible on beta 9, but was not reproducible using our most recent internal build. You might find the original issue resolved in the next Beta release.

Sounds good.... There are several issues that beta 10 will hopefully fix. I am waiting eagerly..

Probably related to the problems noted in this thread: http://ninjatrader.com/support/forum...t=83631&page=2

            - and an earlier one I don't have to hand.
