    NT8B10 - Can't use underscore (_) in Strategy/Indicators names

    This worked previously?

    EXA: Strategy_Name_V1

Now we are back to the NT7 standard where it isn't allowed.

    Or is it just me?

I never had an issue with _... was there some reason it was "removed"?

    Can we get it back?

    Hello,

    Thank you for the question.

If you are referring to the new strategy wizard screen, I do see that the underscore is being removed and will submit a feature request for that.

The name is valid as far as I can see, or there were no errors generated when I manually named the Class and Name and Filename with underscores. If you are additionally having any errors or the wizard was not the only place you see affected by this, please provide more details on those items as well.

I look forward to being of further assistance.

        Hello,

Thank you for the additional information.

After reviewing this topic further, it looks like this is by design. Currently NinjaTrader follows the Microsoft class naming coding standard which does not utilize underscores for class names. You can see the full guideline here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...(v=vs.71).aspx

On that note, I have added a feature request for this item.

I look forward to being of further assistance.

Thanks for the link. I hated this restriction in NT7 also.

          strategy_18_7_5

          has much different meaning than

          strategy1875

Here's a portion of my strategy list:

Free online storage and sharing with Screencast.com. 2 GB of storage and 2 GB of bandwidth per month for free. We won't compress, alter or take ownership of your content.

Great, I can't even use "-". Illegal character.

I looks like I spend more time with a work around. Rename the class manually, rename the file, rename the Name, and it will compile and have _.

That regresses the fix made in NT8B3. #8318, many many moons ago. Please have the regression reversed.

What you cite from Microsoft is a guideline, not a ukase that makes underscores illegal.
