Chart Fixed Scale Y-Axis with Dynamic Range

When watching charts, it is often desirable to have the same fixed scale on the Y-axes of all charts so that movements are scaled identically across all charts. It is currently possible to adjust the chart Y-axis to a fixed scale by dragging the axis to the scale one wants. However, this also fixes the range of values on the axis. The plot will eventually move out of that fixed range and it becomes necessary to clear the fixed scale and re-fix the scale to the now-current plot range.

It would be great to have the ability to fix the Y-axis scale in a manner that the actual range remains dynamic, but the scaling remains fixed. Hence, the scale will always be the same but the plots will dynamically move the axis range to ensure it always encompasses the current price action. This would be needed on a per chart basis, obviously, but it would be useful to have the ability to set it for all charts in a single action when needed.

Grateful to know if this has been requested previously, and if not, can it be requested as an enhancement, please.

We implemented this with NinjaTrader 8. Simply open a chart, right click on chart > Data Series and check the option 'Center On Price Scale'. You then can used either fixed or automatic scaling, when using fixed we will maintain the fixed scale distance but move the center scale point of the chart as new bars come in.

Brett, still waiting for the option to have fixed scaling but allow price action to travel to the upper and lower limits of the chart before chart scrolling vertically!

Not in the immediate plans but still on our suggestion list to look into and prioritize for future releases. Definitely tracking feedback for that feature. After re-reading this might be what Jeronymite is looking for as well. If so please let me know Jeronymite and I'll add your vote if the current center on price mode we added on NT8 does not do what your looking for.

For those using NT7 for awhile, I have implemented this feature in the IT_ChartSquare, keeping current price within a user set vertical range of the chart when the right axis is fixed.
