    Unhandled exception (Strategy Analyzer)

    I cannot start Strategy Analyzer.

    Ninja Trader 8.0.0.12 and all early NT 8 versions
    Windows 8.0 64 bit
    New -> Strategy Analyzer

    Error:
    Unhandled exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

    Thanks for your post.


    So we can further diagnose your system, please start NinjaTrader in Safe Mode.
    Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:
    • Loading workspaces.
    • Connecting on start-up.
    • Loading custom assemblies.
    • Getting instrument updates from the server.

    To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:
    • Exit NinjaTrader.
    • Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
    • Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
    • You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.

      Hello,
      I enable safe mode and start Strategy Analyzer. There is no unhandled exception message box now and therefore there is no trace files. But log files contains the same messages from default strategies (unable to deserialize user data)

        Hello liberal,


        As a test, please take the following steps to force NinjaTrader to start without your saved workspace. You will have the option to reopen these after our tests.
        • Shut down NinjaTrader
        • Navigate to (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 8\workspaces
        • Cut and paste all the files within this folder onto your desktop
        • Restart NinjaTrader which should startup without any workspaces.
        • Once NinjaTrader has started on just the control center, please open a new chart with no custom bar types/indicators/templates and test for issue.

        If there are no issues on this new workspace, please try opening the previous workspace by exiting NinjaTrader and moving the files from your Desktop back into the 'workspaces' folder.
        If this reintroduces issues, I would suggest rebuilding your workspace, adding 1 indicator at a time. Please keep track of what indicators you add back in so that we can narrow down what indicator is causing the issue if the issue returns. I also suggest making a backup of your workspace so we can restore a backup if the issue returns.           Hello,
          I delete all workspaces and start Ninja Trader. Nothing changes from from my early posts. Ninja Trader crashes after I start strategy analyzer.

          PS. When I donloaded and installed Ninja Trader 8 first time few month ago, Ninja Trader and all it's settings was in the default state (without any custom indicators, strategies and workspaces), and then I started strategy analyzer first time and I got the same error.

            I will need to see your log and trace for today look further into this inquiry.
            Could you please send me your log and trace files from within NinjaTrader. Go to Control Center-->Help-->EMail Support in NinjaTrader. Put 'Att Shawn', in the subject field and enable 'Log and trace files'. Also, give a reference of this thread in the body of the email.
