NT8 B12: Contents of Subfolders of bin -> Custom compiled

When I place any files in the folder

NinjaTrader 8 -> bin -> Custom -> ExportNinjaScript

... these files are all being compiled, when NinjaTrader is recompiled via F5 from within the NinjaScript Editor.


With NinjaTrader 7 files stored in the folder

NinjaTrader 7 -> bin -> Custom -> ExportNinjaScript

were not compiled.


Did I overlook anything?

Any files stored in the subfolder were not compiled. This was very convenient, for example when testing a new assembly, I would simply move the indicator file to the hidden folder, then recompile and would be able to test the new assembly.

With NinjaTrader 8, the contents of any subfolder of NinjaTrader 8 -> bin -> Custom seems to be compiled.

Is this as expected?

In the editor you can a right click on any file and choose "Exclude from compilation".

I use this feature extensively in NT7. I have a whole slew of various .cs files for various projects & people stuffed into an assortment of Indicator/Strategy subfolders.

I do this *precisely* because the .cs files in these subfolders are hidden from the NT7 compiler, so I'm often moving files into and out of these folders, based upon my current project, and then editing & compiling.

Yes, in NT8 it is expected that any file in the bin>Custom folder would be included in compilation process.

As member atata observed you can exclude individual files from compilation.

bltdavid - I would be glad to add a feature request to "allow folder exclusion". I will update this thread when I have further information on this request.

I can not find "Exclude from Compilation" in NT7 editor drop down menu after right click. Are you referring to NT7 or NT8?
