Requesting Data Through AddOn - Is It Saved

    Hi,

If I request data through an AddOn is it by default saved within NinjaTrader? E.g. if I close NinjaTrader, open NinjaTrader then run the same requst through the same addon (so same date range, as an example for the previous week so the end date does not change) will NinjaTrader use the data it downloaded last time or download again from the data provider?

I know there's a save chart data option but am wondering what the default behaviour is within an AddOn.

    Thanks

    Hello tmfdouglas,

    Thank you for post,

NinjaTrader will first use internally cached data. There are scenarios where NinjaTrader will reload data depending on chart settings, see the below link for more information.

You can also check the Historical Data window > Edit tab to view any cached historical data (Tools > Historical Data).

Thanks Eric althought that hasn't answered my question.

If for example I request the last 5 days of AAPL 1 minute data through an add on and NinjaTrader does not have any AAPL data already saved it will then load the last 5 days of 1 minute data from the data provider. Is this data then saved within NinjaTrader? Not within the cache but within the NinjaTrader data files. Reason I ask is that I'm trying to find a way to request and store the historical data without having to use the historical data downloader (which I find to be unreliable).

      Thanks

        Hello tmfdouglas,

        Thank you for your reply,

Yes, it is the historical data files that NinjaTrader will save.
