Lost chart templates

I had to purchase a new computer and reinstall ninja trader. I was able to save a lot of information and files pertaining to ninja trader from my old hard drive but I do not know how to get the chart templates on my new computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Chart templates for NinjaTrader 8 Beta can be placed in:
Documents\NinjaTrader 8\templates\Chart

Workspaces can be placed in:
Documents\NinjaTrader 8\workspaces

If you still have the old computer, the best option is to do a backup to create a single backup file on the old computer, transfer the backup file to the new computer, and then restore on the new computer.

Yes, the backup and restore is generally the best way to transfer the files for NinjaTrader 7 as well. This creates one easy to manage backup file that can transfer all of the backed up settings at once.

I generally advise not to backup Historical Data, Log and Trace files, and Market Replay Data. The Historical and Market Replay Data is very large and will cause the backup to be very large. The log and trace files will not apply to the new computer. Removing these items will make the backup light and easy to transfer.

Thank you for your support Chelsea I have found my files on my new computer that were taken from my old computers hard drive that pertains to ninja trader. I can find the list of my chart templates that I want to transfer to the new ninja trader program on my new computer but all of the templates are in an xml document, do these have to be converted to zip files and if so what do you suggest I use. Thank you

Hello yftuna,

Chart template files are .xml files. If these are put into a .zip file they will not work in NinjaTrader. Please leave these as .xml files.
