I use nVidia graphics cards (always have) so this applies to nVidia only but I'm sure Radeon cards have the same options.
The desktop I use for trading is for trading, email, Excel and Word only. In other words I have no need for all the bells and whistles that are needed for gaming or graphic editing. Therefore all my graphic settings are via the Global settings.
Open the nVidia control panel and go to "Manage 3D settings" and go to the global tab:
In this menu box go through each option and either turn it off or set it to maximum performance. Things like Ambient Occlusion, Antialasing - FXAA, Antialasing transparence can be turned off.
An example of setting a menu item to high performance.
If you have more than one monitor you need to change this menu item as shown.
If you do a lot more than just trading with your computer then you can setup profiles as shown. Browse to the location of your NT8 exe and select and then setup all the graphics settings for maximum performance. Now you can toggle back and forth for different profiles.
The idea is to stop any enhancement that serves no purpose in NT8.
This may be pretty basic stuff to most but I didn't see any discussion of this in the main slow cursor thread.
Hope this helps.
Terence.
