    bar timer that works?

    Hello,

Does any one have a bar timer that works?

I have tried umpteen times to get the default NT
bar timer to work and it does not work. I have tried
several things Josh recommended to get it working and
no go it does not work for what ever reason on my
    computer or NT.

So if anyone has one that works with ease please
    send along if possible.

    thanks in advance

    Hello,

The bar time does work for 100% of the customers I have worked with. Let's figure out what is wrong.

First try this exactly even if you feel you have already done it. You must do it in order:

    1) shut down NinjaTrader
    2) delete the NinjaTrader files you find in Documents>NinjaTrader 6.5>db.
    3) please sync your PC clock, by double clicking on the clock in the lower right corner of your desktop. Once you have done that, click on Internet Time tab and then Update. This should sync your clocks together. I believe this is causing the inquiry.
    4) restart NinjaTrader.

      bar timers don't work

I did exactly what you said to do, and my bar timers are 14 seconds off.

Please synchronize your PC clock once more and check if your time zone setting is setup correctly as well.

        Restart NinjaTrader and check again.

I already checked that before I synchronized it, and I am in Central. I have a 1 minute, 3 min, and 9 min chart open with the bar timer in each.
This is a moving target. After I launch ninja, the first 1 minute bar I saw was 18 seconds off, the next bar was 32 seconds off, the next bar was 37 seconds off, next was 44 seconds off - and eventually the one minute bar timer will stop updating completely. Then the 3 minute bar timer will stop updating, etc.

To confirm, a new bar is started but the bartimer is still counting down the prior bar?

            Or

The timer goes negative but a new bar has yet to form?

Neither, it does not go negative, but it does not start at 59. The 1 minute bar timer starts at some random number between 59 and 0, counts down and gets to 00:00:00 while the bar is still forming. When the next bar starts forming, the timer still reads 0 for many seconds (say 18 seconds). Then the bar timer starts at 42 seconds, counts down to and stays at 0. On the next bar, it displays 00:00:00 for 28 seconds, then starts counting at 32 and counts down to 0. After several minutes of this, it just displays 00:00:00 and never updates.

Since you state that the PC clock is in sync, unfortunately there are no other ideas we have at this time as to what could cause that as we can not reproduce this behaviour in house.

This happens for me as well,

The problem seems to be that once the timer hits 00:00:00, it just sits there and doesnt update until it receives a market update. This is easy to notice with a quiet instrument (e.g. YM 03-09) - it stays at 00:00:00 indefinitely (and hard to tell but it looks like it doesnt draw any new bars either)

Guess this makes sense as the code for the indicator is contained within OnBarUpdate()

                    This is correct behaviour.
