In my TSSuperTrend properties :
I have STMode set to ATR,
MA Type set to HMA,
Length is set to 14, Multiple is 2.2 and
Smooth is set to 14.
What is SMOOTH refrencing? Is it referring to the value of another indicator?

In general a smooth is a number of bars for moving average of an underlying plot. In this script, the smooth is used as the Period for the moving average indicator calls.

Smooth is the period for several types of MA, etc. That are used. HMA, SMA, WMA, ....etc. are some of them. They are just used to calculate the _avg value for different MAs as input for the SSSupertrend value. Just open the code in NT editor and study it, not difficult.
