Windows 7 and NT zip files problem

I searched the forums and couldn't find the answer to this.

I just started using Windows 7 and cannot get NT6.5 to recognize the zip files for importing indicators.

The Ninja Import box (6.5) doesn't recognize the zipped file. If you click on the zip file it says "no items match your search"??? These are the same zip files that NT 6.5 recognized on XP.

The "open with" information says Windows Explorer.

It is a pain when trying to move over my custom indicators or use someone's contribution. I am now copying the entire code and creating a "new" indicator...not a lot of fun.

Any ideas on a work around would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Thomas, are you sure those zipped up indicator export files from NT and not just cs source files that would need to be directly copied into the respective folders?

if not, which zip / rar programs are you using on the Win7 install?

      Thanks for your assistance.

They are downloaded as Compressed(zipped)Folders. The icon shows a "zipped" folder.

I am using whatever Windows 7 Pro 64bit defaults to, for downloading zip files.

I've tried downloading on both Firefox and IE8, so it is the way Windows 7 is storing the compressed file.

The NT6.5 Import utility doesn't recognize the zipped folders.

Unfortunately running NinjaTrader 6.5 on 64 bit OS is not supported, NinjaTrader 7 will add support for this - http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/NT7/NinjaTrader7.html

Do you use any firewall / security product that stores those zip files perhaps with another file ending, so they can't be recognized?

When I pull up the indicator properties:

Type of file: Compressed (zipped) Folder (.zip)
          Opens with: Windows Explorer

I switched over the Opens with: Ninja 6.5 and that is not recognized by the NT Import utility. I'm guessing the "Opens with" has no bearing on if the NT Import utility can recognize the zip file.

No, don't believe this would create an issue as well - please ensure to enabled seeing the full ending of the files if needed to check into.

                Thomas,

Please attach a file here so we can see what exactly you are working with. Thank you.

Okay, here is a file that I just downloaded from the NT indicator area and cannot get NT 6.5 to recognize using the Import utility.

Hopefully, you can see how Windows 7 changed the zip file in a way that the Import utility doesn't recognize it and figure out a workaround.

                  I really appreciate your assistance.

Thomas, it displays here as regular zip file without issues on my end. As workaround you could extract the zip file contents and put the CS indicator files directly into the MyDocuments\NinjaTrader 6.5\bin\Custom\Indicator folder and then compile them in NT.

                      Thanks Bertrand and Josh...

I got it working. I'm not sure why it started working, but here's what I did.

Remember, this was a new computer, so I had a fresh install of NT 6.5 with Windows 7.

I was able to import a zip file from a flash drive. Once I did that first import, it seemed to have "trained" the NT6.5. It is now recognizing all of the zip files that I have on the Windows 7 machine.

I don't know why this played out the way it did, but I can now unzip the files that are on Windows 7.

                      Thanks again for your efforts!!!
