    NT7 - Volume Price Confirmation Indicator

    I was going through the code for this indicator and came upon a line for:
    VPCIS.Set(EMA(VPCI, LongTerm)[0]);

    I've read Dormeier's book "Investing with Volume Analysis" and he specifies a volume weighted moving average as:
    vpcis = vwma(vpci, shortTerm)

    so I was wondering why NT uses an EMA versus the Volume Weighted Moving Average and the LongTerm period versus the shortTerm? I coded both and the results are significant> If this Indicator was not developed by NT then dis regard the question.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello dmking,

    Thank you for your post.

    That indicator would not be one that is pre-loaded in NinjaTrader 7. Did you find this indicator on our Support Forum File Sharing section? If so, can you provide a link to the file?

    Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

      Thanks for responding Patrick.

      I think I got the zip file from the following

      Bertrand, #12.

      or from,

      Bertrand, #2 (probably this one)

      This isn't urgent, it works as expected with the exception of the difference noted above. Let me know if you come across anything. May Bertrand has some insight.

      Thanks

        Hi Patrick,

        I think that I got this from Bertrand (post #2 from above). In reading that post it looks like he coded it up, so I sent him an email asking him the question. I'll let you know what he says. But it is clear that he coded in an EMA for smoothing vs a volume weighted MA that Dormeier calls for.

        Regards,

        D

          Hello dmking,

          Thank you for you for your response.

          The code of the VPCI is already utilizing the VWMA indicator for it's values. The addition of the EMA was to smooth the values based on the Exponential Moving Average. You can change this should you feel another Moving Average is better suited for the smoothing.

          Please let me know if you have any questions.

              Hello Collins632,

              Are you wondering how to change from the EMA to a different moving average?

              What specifically is your issue?
