    getting data for backtest

    Hi

We are attempting to backtest a strategy for several stocks.

Datafeed is IB, But when we add the symbol to the instrument list.
and go to the backtest, the backtest option is grayed out.

    Any suggestions.

    Thanks

    Lynn

    Lynn,

After you have added the instrument to the Instrument Manager first try checking that you have it set up properly by opening a chart of it. If that works then you should be able to backtest that instrument.

      getting data for backtest

      Hi Josh

We do get a chart, but nothing for backtest, I suspect it is not finding
      the data fro some reason,

      Thanks

        Lynn,

Please post a screenshot by what you mean by "grayed out". Also, which data provider are you on?

          Backtest Data

I have the screenshot for what i am referring to but size
does not allow me to upload to this forum.

Any suggestion on how to best get it to you?

Hopefully this will expalin the challenge.

          Thanks

Try hosting it at a free image hosting service and link to it.

                Lynn,

What you have done is not add an Instrument, but rather added an Instrument List. This is why you cannot backtest on it. You have no instruments in the list.

Please see this article on how to add an instrument to the Instrument Manager and then how to add that to a list.

Instead of pressing the New button on the left, you want to press the New button on the midright.

                  Backtest Data

                  That solved it.

                  Thanks
