    Chart Type Programming Question ???

    NT,

Since historic bars are on the charts.

I was wondering if there was any way to reference the prior bar from inside a chart type file?

I know this question is not supported, but it is very important to a project I am working on.

    Thanks,

    RJay

Hi RJay, what do you mean by, "if there was any way to reference the prior bar from inside a chart type file?" If you could elaborate a little, maybe we can give a pointer or two.

      NT,

I need to be able store or access the open, high, low, close values of the last completed bar in a custom chart type file.

Can you just open a chart with custom chart type and then call Close[0] on that chart?

Open[0],High[0],Low[0],Close[0] series are not accessable from files in the type folder.

Why are you trying to access it from a type? What are you trying to accomplish? What's available is the underlying data stream.

              NT,

If you don't want anyone creating new chart types on your platform, just say so!!!

              This is a simple request.

I don't understand why your responses are attempting to change the subject?

If you don't know of a solution to my request, just say so.

I don't understand why I have to go through an interrogation every time I ask a question here on this forum???

                RJay,

We have already stated several times across many of your threads that custom chart types is NOT supported. Functionality is there, but is beyond the level of support we can offer.

We ask you questions as to what you are trying to accomplish to determine if your approach is the way you should proceed or if what you are trying to do is even doable. Especially in this case. You ask for accessing OHLC of a custom chart type that doesn't even exist in the context of when you are making chart types. This does not make sense and that is why we ask you clarifying questions to be able to better assess the use case you are going for.

I would like to get the current price when using Renko bars but there is no price movement until a new bar is generated. This might be similar to what RJay is trying to do.

eDanny, not supported with our current 6.5 approach, it can't be done. We changed this in NinjaTrader 7 since we will support Renko bars natively then and the forming bar's last traded price will be displayed.
