No data for RSP from IB

My automated ETF strategy is using Ninja's 6.5.1000.12 with a free license. I have been able to download historical data from IB for testing and optimization, but when I tried my strategy on RSP (Rydex S&P 500 Eq. Wt), I got nothing. The test will show a pop up menu, then stop, with 0 trade. I was running tests from 1/1/2009 through 8/23/2009. I added the symbol via instrument manager, and it shows up in the left pane. I mapped the symbol to all data providers using RSP in the Misc. tab. I also added a line to my IB paper trading account to make sure it can find it, and the symbol is found, and data populated across the row. Is there something that I have missed?

P.S. I am ready to purchase a life time license. Will there be any instructions as to any setting differences between live trade and the free license?

Hello,

This is an index right? You can't trade an index. That is likely the issue.

Ben, its an index ETF that trades just like any stock on NYSE Arca that has bid and ask. See link on Yahoo http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=rsp.

marchrooster, if it's setup as an index you would still see this issue, have tried changing the instrument type to stock?

Betrand, thanks for asking. Here is what I have under Edit: Master Instrument RSP, Instrument Type: stock, Currency UsDollar. Under Misc. tab, Symbol Map, filled in RSP for every single line.

Ok, please see if you get data for RSP in the IB TWS, if yes enter the exact same TWS ticker symbol as mapping for IB in the Instrument Setup.

I did get quote from TWS paper trading account as I indicated in my original message. I added symbol before by following all the steps prescribed and I have not had problems until this one. Any help you can offer will be appreciated. Also, my other question is when I proceed to buy a NT license for real trade with my IB account for automated trading, is there any setting or coding change that I need to know? Thanks!

Please try deleting the created symbol from the Instrument Manger, then go the Control Center and select type 'Stock' and enter RSP manually. After this click with the mouse in the grey area and check if the data is coming in, RSP should now be added as 'On the Fly' symbol to NinjaTrader.

There's no coding change needed when you go from Sim to Live, just change the license key and select the proper live account to execute to.
